Worthing seafront and pier on a summer afternoon

Keep the seafront shelters in public hands

To  Southend-on-Sea City Council

The Victorian shelters along the seafront between Chalkwell and Old Leigh are used every day by walkers, older residents and families waiting out the rain. The council's estates review lists four of them for disposal or demolition this year.

We are asking Southend-on-Sea City Council to keep every shelter in public ownership, publish a repair schedule and consult residents before any shelter is removed.
